This has been killing me - kNetworkManager NOT asking for password/secrets

At some point in the last 6months, I’ve lost the ability to connect to WPA-secured (TTLS/PAP) wireless networks.
What happens, is that

  • I click to connect to it in KNetworkManager
  • it connects, and starts to “configuring the interface”
  • then it says waiting for authorization, and pops up the “System Policy Prevents Modification…” root password box
  • I type in the root password
  • at that point it hangs at “waiting for auth” and eventually tells me connection failed.

I’ve tried to store the password, and tried to prompt, but no matter what I do, it just doesn’t want to work… Any idea where to even start? Open Wireless works fine.

tnx

Please start with telling the people here which version of openSUSE you use.
And as Network Manager is mostly used in a desktop environment, please tell which DE you use.

And please next time that you copy/paste computer text in a post, do so between CODE tags. You get them by clicking on the # button in the toolbar of the post editor.

You absolutely need to specify the version of openSUSE that you use. In
addition, please confirm that you use KDE. Otherwise, we need to give about 6
different sets of instructions.

It’s 12.2
Linux itsm-vii.site 3.8.2-1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Mar 4 09:22:37 UTC 2013 (9871030) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Subject line says K network manager… sorry - figured it was implied that this was running KDE as the DE.

Sorry - Last time I posted on these boards, code tags were used for code, and not log files (Had the file been longer, I would have sent it to pastebin or similar and linked to it)

Use code tags for anything in which you want to preserve the formatting.

In 12.2, entering the encryption secrets from the box popped up by NM did not
usually work. Use the Connection Manager from the applet to enter the details.
For the first new one, it is best to delete all of them first. That always
worked for me, but you must use kwallet to store the secret.
