Thinkpad X61s and opensuse 11.1 KDE 4.2.1 hotkeys issue

Hi,

I just switched from Gnome to KDE. However, I’s struggling with my thinkpad’s hotkey issue which didn’t happen in Gnome. The problem is: Most of the Fn+… hotkeys don’t seem to work.
I tried to read an article in ThinkWiki, and also looked at the Xmodmap for multimedia hotkeys (play/stop/pause…). In xmodmap configuration file, most of the keys seem to be in the file, but I don’t know how to make them work. :frowning:
Anyone who has experienced this problem please help!

Thanks!

Hi again,

It seems that (I guess…) the media keys that I mentioned aren’t recognized by Amarok only.
In Amarok, I can use its keyboard shortcuts defined in KDE’s “Keyboard and Mouse”. But I personally prefer thinkpad shortcuts.
I went around and found one post in a forum. That guy said that: disabling Amarok’s keyboard shortcuts could make the media hotkeys work. Anyone tells me how to disable Amarok’s keyboard shortcuts in KDE’s “Keyboard and Mouse” part?

Once again, I still cannot make the other hotkeys work anyway! I also used the command “lshal -m” to observe. It seems that the system recognizes correctly the hotkeys but it doesn’t take any response except screen brightness (increase/decrease) keys and sound volumn keys.

You must go to Configure Desktop - Regional & Language - Keyboard Layout and choose your keyboard model (IBM Thinkpad)
