I agree with your stance here. If 32bit is somehow not supported the images / repos should not be on the official ( download ) pages. We cannot expect visitors to accept
as an offer. Maybe with a clear “Unsupported, use at own risk” warning, but the best IMNSHO would be to drop it and leave the 32bit distro up to specialized old hardware distros,
Exactly what URL did you get this installer from? I’ve not found any existing wiki page showing the TW i586 port for download, on which I could add a warning to not accept the default bootloader.
You get the 32bit image from the standard download page get.opensuse.org
