I have always used VLC player because I never have any problems with codecs or anything. in my previous Linux days I have always had problems trying to watch any video at all so is there a player like VLC out there or where do I find all of the codecs so I can watch any version of video/audio and which player to use?
Yes there is, it’s called VLC media player and it’s in Packman repo
Also the codecs are here:
Welcome to openSUSE-Community.org - openSUSE-Community
Just get the libdvdcss from the VLC repo then delete the VLC repo.
After you’ve done that get the Packman version of VLC & then you should be all set.
where is the “Packman repo”?
Here is the link below:
open YaST, go to Software Repositories, click add, tick Community repositories and then tick packman repository. It will refresh, ask you to accept the key and voila. After that you go to Software Management and install VLC, (it should pull proper packman libraries).
there we go thank you people
now the last thing I have to do is try to remember how to get wine to work so I can play Dialo 2LOD then I am set

The videolan player does work with Linux… so there you go.
With that said, I use kaffeine/xine a lot. And I use the mplayerplug-in with firefox. If you have the w32codecs installed, it works well for me.
Maybe there is some formats that are not handled well, but I haven’t found them. So there are options (I think).
speaking of codecs I went to download some and the place wanted to charge money which I think is a total joke.
so where can I find the codecs for free .
Also on a different note there was one player that could play avis that were still rared which was kind of neat because it saved me from unraring them ,does anyone know which player that is/was?
You really are unlikely to need codecs but if you are on a 32bit install, then search for codecs as long as you have the packman repository you should find iirc w32-codecsall. Running 64bit I’ve never come across anything that vlc or mplayer couldn’t play, there is a couple of formats that the codecs will assist with though iirc.
As for the other intriguing I wait for the reply never heard of that one.
Just follow this Carefully!
