There is no official Thunderbird package available for openSUSE Leap 15.3

Why is there no official Thunderbird release for Leap 15.3? See:

https://software.opensuse.org/package/MozillaThunderbird

The above page states: “There is no official package available for openSUSE Leap 15.3”

As a result, the Leap 15.3 repo is currently using Thunderbird version 78.13.0 (I assume from the Leap 15.2 repo), however, Mozilla’s latest version is 91.1.0. This large lag in release versions is causing problems with some thunderbird extensions. For example, the current version of the “Provider for Google Calendar” is only supported on recent Thunderbird versions (91.0 - 102.0) such that users must also use outdated versions of the extension(s) some of which have functionality issues.

Are current and future releases of OpenSUSE going to support Thunderbird or not?

Thanks,

Gordon

openSUSE are using the ESR Versions of Firefox and Thunderbird, so no need for changing it.

If you want the newest, add the Mozilla Repo.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Beware! Currently software.opensuse.org will NOT render proper results for openSUSE Leap 15.3 (see all packages for Leap 15.3 missing on software.opensuse.org - openSUSE Factory - openSUSE Mailing Lists).

For Thunderbird, Opensuse Leap is using the Suse repositories.

For the details about the MozillaThunderbird package, you can also have a look at: https://mirrorcache.opensuse.org/update/leap/15.3/sle/x86_64/MozillaThunderbird-78.13.0-8.36.1.x86_64.rpm.mirrorlist

No.

zypper refresh
zypper install MozillaThunderbird

Ahem, sorry Svyatko. Yes: https://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/15.3/sle/x86_64/MozillaThunderbird-78.13.0-8.36.1.x86_64.rpm

The Mozilla repo provides the latest versions while openSUSE update repo provides the older “extended support” version.
