what are “souffles”, are they something you see or hear…

A baked dish made from beaten egg whites and various other ingredients.

OH! i see in your post “Blog website: ubuntudaily.net” and guess that
Translate Google picked ‘souffles’ for you…it kinda funny, but no
harm…can i guess you are having starts and stops in a video stream,
or an audio stream…or both?

hmmmm…i get also starts/stop with my VLC 2.0.3-101.3 in the audio of
your URL (no video)

thanks for reply.

souffle is what i hear. it means a lot of noise , a lot of abnormal sound. it not just exists at the beginning or end of playing the mms stream, it exists all the time while playing.
in fact, it is not just about this mms stream, it is about all my mms streams.

has it just started happening recently?

Could it be related to the problems vlc is having with the latest release of ffmpeg?
A downgrade of ffmpeg is on its way to packman and should be available soon for you to test.

oh, I just tested and see what you mean by souffles. You mean a lot of white noise.

Yes, it is probably related to ffmpeg.

have a look through this thread

AH!! the only kind of souffle
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soufflé> i was aware of is made from
egg whites and puffs up with lots of nothing (air) [kinda like “white
noise” is full of nothing (but incoherent sound)]…

there is also a heart sound termed ‘souffle’ in the field of medicine
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Souffle_(heart_sound)>…a blowing
sound…a murmur…

but, farcusnz is correct: the term instead of ‘souffles’ whould be
“white noise” or maybe ‘static’…

i have downgraded ffmpeg to ffmpeg-1.0.1-3.1 and the problem has been fixed.
thanks for your help!
