Theme issue at login

Hello,
I have recently installed openSUSE 11.2 which is working pretty well

However, at login, just before entering login/password, I get a pop-up with the following message :

les thèmes ne peuvent pas être utilisés avec la méthode d’identification “generic”

which can be translated into : Themes can’t be used with the “generic” authentication method.

So I am getting the background of the default suse login and the input fields are in the top left hand corner appearing one after the other(login then pass).

I have tried to change the login theme in the system configuration and the connection type (switching for default, failsafe, kde, metacity) but unsuccessfully

So I’m looking for some help, because I do not know where to look now.
Should you require anymore information, please let me know.

Thank you very much,
Cojy.

Just had the same problem. I used YAST to enable the fingerprint reader and
setup my account with my fingerprint. When I had the same problem as above,
I then disabled the fingerprint reader, ran init 3 then back to init 5 again
and it has cleared the problem. Looks like fingerprint reader support is not
fully implemented yet. I’ll come back to this another day - currently trying
to find a solution to intermittent black screens on my laptop when starting
up - seems to be down to the ATI/Radeon driver included in 11.2.

Oh thanks a lot ! I totally forgot that I enabled this functionality… I can’t help you with your pb since I got an nvidia card, so I wish you good luck and thank you for your help !

Hi,

I have the same issue. The fingerprint authentication has been working until I’ve upgraded to 11.2. It works also in 11.2, if you disable the fingerprint authentication, reboot and enable it again. It’s possible to logout/login with a fingerprint afterwards without any issues, but only until a reboot.

Does somebody know a workaround to fix this?

Thanks for any feedback

Simon
