The right way to reply a thread

Hi,

I have been here for a while and just found that I didn’t figure out how to reply a thread.

I have two questions:

  1. General Forum Usage indicate that there is a ‘Quick Reply’ box, but I can’t find it all around the page. And I can’t find ‘quick reply button’. It makes me really confused.

  2. I am not sure how to reply to an author (the first post of a thread). If I click on ‘Reply to Thread’ button, it will reply to the newest post rather than the first one. And because of this, the relationship of posts are confusing.

If you enter any thread of this forum and switch to Hybrid mode, you will see a tree with continuously extending child nodes, which can not reflect the real relationship of posts in the thread.

‘Reply With Quote’ seems works well, but for most cases, I just want to reply the author without quote, and it seems that there is no such button to do this.

Please let me know if I missed something, thanks!

Use the “Reply with Quote” function to respond to the particular post in question.

I generally only view in linear mode (and find the other modes contrived). I just want to read a thread from start to finish (in time).

‘Reply With Quote’ seems works well, but for most cases, I just want to reply the author without quote, and it seems that there is no such button to do this.

I use the “Reply With Quote” but selectively remove quoted material depending on what points I’m replying to (as I’ve just done here).

Thanks for your reply, this seems to be a feasible solution, and I will try to adapt to this:)
