The installer stops at: finished virtual console setup

Hello, today I decided to switch to OpenSUSE and get rid of Windows 11, but the OpenSUSE installer had other ideas. As the title says, despite several attempts, the installer always stops at the same point.

R9 3900x, Aorus 450B, 64GB DDR4, 2TB NVMe
Can anyone give me an idea why?

Thanks

Did you verify the checksum of the ISO? How did you create the installation media? Did you use Ventoy in any way?

I installed it using Rufus 4.7; I always use this software and I’ve never had any problems with it.

I’m going to try to re-download the image

Have a look here
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Create_a_Live_USB_stick_using_Windows#Using_Rufus

Did you choose the dd mode?

I do not understand. Verifying the checksum is way faster then downloading again. And after downloading again you should of course still do the verifying.

I don’t know what DD mode is.

The linked article explains that Rufus has two modes…

The link refers to rufus 2.15, while the latest version is 4.14 and no longer has the “DD” option.

Then use the dd tool itself.

On Windows 11? That’s new to me.

Sorry, I did not understand that this is a “chicken and egg” problem. Having no proper operating system and thus no dd makes it difficult to create a proper installation medium.

rwong.

wsl --install openSUSE run dd from there… wsl --exec dd if=... of=....

Well, can you show me what is “rwong” ?

Guys, I’m here with a specific problem. I re-downloaded the ISO and recreated the bootable USB, but I’ll try again another day because I’ve had enough for today. Thanks.
