The GNOME Main Menu problem in openSUSE 11.3

I found that suddenly i am not able to use my keyboard to navigate through menus like
==>Main Menu
==>Control Center etc:

But i am able to navigate using keyboard in browsers and Nautilus

Kindly help

40 views but no answers,guess everyone is playing hide and seek :frowning:

What happens if you click on the Menu first ?

@ please_try_again-Thanks for the reply

I am able to use main menu very well with the mouse but the keyboard navigation is not working

I like to use cursor keys to navigate the menu

When i navigate using the keyboard focus doesn’t shift to the applications listed on the main menu.

But the focus mechanism is able to move onto “more applications” button though

Why the hell did you post that question in the hardware forum? I could not find it anymore.
That thread should be moved to the Applications forum.

I don’t use that uggly Main Menu applet. But I checked and could not navigate with the keyboard either. Why don’t you just remove that applet and install “Menu Bar” instead? Then you can use the keyboard to navigate, it is faster and doesn’t look silly.

I thought the problem was with the keyboard focus or something,hence i posted here
Yep i am going to switch from Main Menu to either “Tradition main menu” or “Menu bar”> If find that both are installed.It is just that i am used to windows and the “Main Menu” thing’s look and feel are similar to Windows XP

I have a same problem on SLED11 after migrate to SP1… Any ideas?

I changed my brother’s machine from 11.2 to 11.3 gnome,the same problem,i think the problem is with the applet itself

Yes, it looks like a bug for sure. Using the arrow keys it does move
just not showing focus.

Refer:-

functionality (generating various checksums for a file) could be a useful feature in a directory browser like dolphin or filezilla

Need GUI based File checker

Hi
You need to look at openFATE http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Openfate

Something like this https://launchpad.net/nautilus-md5sum

Hi
I’ve built it, but looks like it only works on iso images…

Thanks for the response

I would like to know how the GUI part works in Nautilus
It also has a CLI interface

Correction i needed to retstart the OS to view the change in the context menu,as you have pointed out it doesn’t work on all types of files

Also openFATE https://features.opensuse.org is ultra cool .If we request a feature in Novell distribution and it percolates to mother distribution like GNOME,right!!

Found a GUI based hash calculation tool that works on all types of built into a download manager called fatrat
