Which P2P client is the best for Linux? Any experience or opinions on this subject?
I am using Amule for years now but I would like to try something else simple because Amule is such an unstable memory hog. Amule doesn’t seem to do very well on KDE 4 with nVidia. It freezes the desktop, crashes etc.
I tried Frostwire which is easy to use but I don’t have access to the ED2K servers.
MLDonkey is another one that I tried but I just hadn’t manage to connect the core to KMLDonkey - too complicated and time wasting.
What I would like is a programme that has the capability of AMule but is stable and doesn’t consume all my memory.
kTorrent. Is at full speed now, ‘top -p {pid of ktorrent}’ give a CPU usage of 0, mem usage of 0.9 %.
I like Vuze myself.
I am using Deluge from the Packman repos its lightweight. I had been using Vuze but it was just getting to bloated.
Which P2P networks do Deluge use? How is it’s speed? Is it stable?
I just read that it’s Gnome based. I would like something that fits the KDE Desktop.
Can one download music and videos with KTorrent? It; good for Software download but I haven’t tried it for other things.
I just installed it and am testing. The first impression is wow! The results are so fast and it seems to be just what I am looking for. Bye bye Amule.
Best is a relative term.
I used to run Deluge and was happy with it.
Then I tried Transmission. It’s a keeper.
Low overhead, easy to use and understand, and mighty fast DLs. Excellent privacy management, encryption, etc. Fully optioned.
Available from Packman.
One question pertaining to Vusu. How do I configure it to use a video player of my choice to view multimedia files? I know how to do it in Amule but not in vuse.
Yes, Ktorrent works fine :good:
I used Vuze, then I used Deluge and now I’m pleased with Transmission
How do you set it up? I installed it but there was something about the port being closed or something like that.
