Thank you for adding the winter theme in openSUSE 11.2 again. I was surprised as grub was showing the little pingus to me at the first of december. Thank you! That makes me so happy. I love the little pingus in grub.
Hi,
I saw that when I was running 11.2 in virtualbox, but not when I installed it.
It was a nice surprise, but I wondered why it wasn’t showing when I installed.
Regards,
Barry.
Hi it will be also shown when you installed on a real machine. They come around the christmas time and not all the time. Sometimes you have to boot 3 or 4 times to get that pinguscreen.
If you want to configure it you can open the /boot/message. Do that with cpio on console and when you change gfxboot.cfg the following line:
penguin=-1 to
penguin=100 and pack /boot/message with cpio again, then you will have everytime you boot your pinguscreen. And you will have that forever, even in summer!
Hi,
Thanks for the info.
Regards,
Barry.
Hi,
Here is summer, how can I change this grub theme to never come? Last two days always boot the pingus screen.
If I uninstall the package gfxboot from yast what happen?
Thanks
Hi wileralves,
please do not uninstall gfxboot because otherwise you cannot configure your bootloader screen. If you dont like the little pingus just type this from root:
gfxboot --change-config penguin=0
I will promise you they will never come again.
PS: Can you bring me to that place where is summer now? With sun and cocktails and a huge house for free?

Until the next release of openSUSE. I find that joke terribly annoying
Uwe
Thanks Pilgervater
Hello,
Thank you very much. I love OpenSUSE and everything about it. The Christmas splash screen is nice for few days, but after that I’d rather to get back my beautiful green splash screen. Thank you once again for helping me get it back
OpenSUSE forEVER.
