So, not sure whom we might be talking about here, but I do end all of my messages with a Thank You, and the reason is to be polite to a fault. And by that I mean, being polite, in a forum settings is a must, in my opinion. How can we really help someone else, if we can not at least be polite to them? It is hoped, that just a hint of being polite and trying to help can just snag that next openSUSE user and bring them into the fold. The bigger the fold, or user base, the more help and learning, that we all get. If you really want to help here, then start by being polite at the least. I will say, that with the world mix of users, I am no expert on how to speak to non English speakers and just hope that in my attempt to help I will over come anything else one might gleam from a message that I might write. And if you really want to learn how to use openSUSE, then you really need to start helping others use it. As always, if I misspeak in any way, you may let me know in public or private as you require.
Thank You (for using openSUSE),
Hello James.
Yes, I was thinking about your and a few other OS users “Thank You,” signature. It was a sincere query because
I thought it was the questioner who was supposed to say thank you, and not the answerer. And the only place I
had seen this was in the openSUSE forums.
After reading responses from other users, it became clear to me that this is common in Southern States of US.
Now I know, and everything is fine. The discussion is still going on, but it is not particularly about the opening
post.
Thank You,

Thank you for asking this. I have wondered for a long time about this
custom, but I never asked
