If, like me, you almost never looked at the forums, you wouldn’t have
known about the ‘sticky’.
I gave up on ‘knode’ years ago when it became apparent that it wasn’t
supported. Now using ‘claws’ for mail and news after hitting
problems with TB but, for a pure newsreader, I found ‘pan’ hard to beat.

Search for a thread named “NNTP Test Thread - Take II”, and just reply
to it and test to your heart content

knode works fine here. This post is sent with knode.

Yes, it works OK - up to a point - but I found some years ago that a
feature I used had stopped working. You used to be able to set up
folders and copy messages to them, either via a menu or, more
conveniently, via drag-and-drop. That stopped working; you could still
create folders but couldn’t put anything in them. I made bug report
which was ignored, but eventually found the reason was that someone had
reported a problem with the feature and, presumably because there was
nobody able to fix it, the feature had been removed. This suggested to
me that I should look elsewhere for a newsreader that had support.
I have an outstanding newsreader bug report with TB that’s been around
longer - it dates back to the last millennium - but at least I still
get e-mails occasionally from people still trying to fix it.

I see.
I normally use Thunderbid; knode and pan as backups.

LOL.
Years ago, maybe on Netscape times, you could not use a personal key
certificate to cryptographically sign on sites. This impeded use of
Netscape (or was is Mozilla?) to be used for tax form filling in my
country (Spain), and many other similar applications requiring people to
sign things in legally bounding procedure.
The feature was unfinished for years… till my government hired some
people to create/improve the gorverment certificate agency (FNMT); these
people apparently used Linux and Mozilla somewhat (or wanted to make it
easier for us to pay taxes ), and put the effort to make Mozilla
repair the feature, actually contributing a lot to it. I remember they
contacted on the Spanish SUSE mail list, asking for testers or something.
