Temperature plasmoid do not work on kde 4.6.2

openSUSE 11.4 64 bits
I have “sensors” package installed and configured with sensors-detect. The cpu temperature monitor plasmoid worked on kde 4.6.0 without problems but after installing 4.6.2 the monitor do not show any info.
By running “sensor” from konsole I can see the temperature for both processors so it seems to be something related with the kde update.
Any idea?
Thanks

Hello,

I’ve the same problems. I use the following:

The situation is the same. All System Monitors on the KDE Plasmoid Desktop show only “Temporary Partitions” but not the sensorsd information.

has anyone logged a bug against that plasmoid on 4.6.2? if not, it may
never get fixed…

but, while waiting for the fix, which is more important to you: running
4.6.2 or having a temp plasmoid which works?

my point is that when you upgrade from one version to another you always
run the risk of breaking something…if you want a working temp then
back level to 4.6.0 (or even 4.5.5 which runs the temp stuff great!)

Maybe kde 4.6.2 is compiled without the lm_sensors use flag. You should ask
the packagers/developers from the kde46 repository , they will know and can
easily change this.

I might be wrong, but I don’t think it’s a KDE-issue - I used to monitor temperatures with GKRellm and am not able to do so anymore (settings do not show entries for my cpu anymore, but I can monitor fanspeeds and the temperature of my GFX-card). Yet I can monitor the cpu with ‘sensors’ via Konsole (and KSensors, an old KDE3-app).

Just my 2¢.

I see the same on 11.3 with kde 4.6.2, the plasmoid does not work (never
used that vefore, but enabled it now to see) but ksensors does. This points
even more to an kde issue since ksensors uses the kde3 libs, whereas the
plasmoid uses the kde4 libs.
The same plasmoid works here on 11.4 but with kde 4.6.0.

This maybe unrelated to the other issue, do you know which libraries are
used by gkrellm for monitoring? I do not use it, so I never looked at it.

Sure, but I need to first know is someone else is suffering the problem or it is just me: flooding bugzilla with false alarms it is not useful either.

For my part, a stable desktop: plasma 4.6.0 did not work very well on my system so I tried a bug fix release. Everything is working perfectly now but this dammed plasmoid…

I’m using KDE:/Release:/46/ and KDE:/Extra/KDE_Release_46_openSUSE_11.4 repos which gave me kde 4.6.2 release 3. Someone told me he do not have the problem but that he have 4.6.2 release 391 :\

I post this issue to the opensuse-kde@opensuse.org Mailing list. But only “C.” told me, that he have the same problem.

No, only if is needed and it’s detected as real bug.

It’s not mandatory - so I do nothing some days - so I’ve seen that it’s longer time not soleved - I google and find this task - so I post that I’ve the same problem - no more and no less.

It’s clear and so I do not angry - I only friendly told here that I’ve a - very small - problem. But I’m only using SUSE since Version 6.2 is coming out - so I’m not really a beginner - I think so.

Ciao

I also told i another post that I can confirm by a quick test the same
problem with 11.3 and the coresponding kde46 repository. You can add this
info if you want. It is not 11.4 specific.

CPU Temperature sensor doesn’t work with Conky for me either for the last couple months. Could this be related to the post over here? Where is cpufreq.h ?

I don’t think so. cpufreq-set and cpufreq-info seem to work well over here, plus the cpufrequtils do not monitor temperatures, but set speeds.

Fixed on recent KDE SC 4.6.3 update.

100% Ack
It works again

Not here, after 4.6.3 update tonight…

I must restart KDE and also use all KR46 Packages (kdebase4 and so on). After this I edit the settings from i.e. HW-Temperature and can activate the values again.
