TASKBAR MESSED UP.

After a view experiments it finally hapaned: The taskbar to the Matrix disappeared.

I got it back by typing “kicker” into command line - I got the OpenSuse taskbar…I don’t like that one I switched to KDE view…but now I’m back to the old style. :stuck_out_tongue:

How do I set the taskbar to be the one that appears right after installation, guys?

  • TheMask,
right click the icon and select “Switch to Suse Menu Style” or “Switch to KDE Menu Style”. Not sure which one you got right now

Uwe

Thanks, worked. Raised your rep. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, I also messed up my taskbar and ended with no taskbar at all. Can anyone tell me how to get that back?

Thanks in advance.

Right click the desktop, Unlock Widgets if necessary, Add Panel. Right click the panel, Add Widgets, add the Task Manager widget.

Thank you buckesfeld…

I got the task-bar, but how am I supposed to get the task-bar which was there when I installed my openSUSE??

I tried right-clicking the task-bar, but there are no options as “Switch to Suse Menu Style” or “Switch to KDE Menu Style” >:(

If worse comes to worse you can always delete the .kde or .kde4 folder from your home directory, log out then log back in. The desktop will be reset to it’s original defaults. You will need to reconfigure the desktop to get it looking the way it did before.

Uhm, that’s not the taskbar, but the application launcher menu. Add that as well, same method as adding the task bar.

Uwe

I tried to find the widget for “task-bar” but it is not there in my widgets. can you tell me from where i can get that

If you right-click on the desktop and select “add widgets,” near the bottom of the list will be both “System Tray” and “Task Manager.” If they are not, try reloading them by using the “install new widgets” button at the bottom of the “add widgets” dialog box.

If you want to restore the KDE4 panel to it’s defaults open a terminal and enter the following commands.

kquitapp plasma
rm ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc
plasma &

Good info.

Actually I was not looking for “system tray” or “task manager”. I was trying to get my “panel” back. I had to delete my account and create that account again. Then I got my “panel” back.(I renamed my “home” folder to “home_old”. That way I saved what I wanted, but had to do a lot of settings again.) And after I logged into the new account, the “add panel” option is showing when I right click on the desktop. This was not there before. I remember I had a “Refresh desktop” option that is not there now…

Can anyone tell me from where to add or delete options which appear when we do a right click of mouse on desktop… I am just curious
