I have been wondering that is there a tablet mode for OpenSUSE Tumbleweed? I am asking this since I find it annoying that when I convert my computer (I would like to note that I have a Lenovo Yoga 2, so it can be in laptop and tablet mode) into a tablet by flipping the screen, I have the mouse-pad working (and keyboard as well!).
So what I am asking for is that is there anything that allows a tablet mode so that the mouse-pad and keyboard would be disabled while I am using the laptop in tablet mode (tablet mode, is where I flip the screen so it has the shape of a tablet and works exactly like a tablet).
Is there any software I can get for this?
Assuming you only have the Tumbleweed repos enabled, have a look in YaST>Software Management>Patterns to see if there is a TabletPC pattern. I would assume there is given the recent changes to Tumbleweed.
The last time I looked at the Tablet enhancements, those had to do with implementing and recognizing touchscreen actions.
I don’t know any software automatically disables/enables physical keyboard and mouse/touchpad based on changing hardware.
Or, at least I haven’t noticed anything special. Regardless whether you have a touchscreen or not, you can implement a soft keyboard and AFAIK a physical keyboard and mouse doesn’t have anything to do with whether they exist or not (If a touchscreen exists, touch should always be supported).
Thanks! I found it and have enabled it. I have tested it and it worked great! Its so nice to use the computer in tablet mode where the mousepad is disabled (and keyboard!).
Thanks again for your help.
john hudson had found the place to enable it. Though thank you for your suggestion, it is still very useful since it can be used as an alternative if the options in the software management cannot be found.
