T60 82573L Gigabit Ethernet Controller can't work

I installed openSUSE 11.2 on my laptop lenovo T60, but I can’t connect internet using it.

linux-o1sa:/home/baijingjiao # dmesg | grep eth
no output.

I downloaded below 2 files from http://sourceforge.net/projects/e1000/
e1000-8.0.19.tar.gz
e1000e-1.1.2.tar.gz

which one should I use for my NIC?
and I need kernel-source/gcc/make to compile them right? I can’t connect internet, how can I install them for my openSUSE? I have a liveCD of opensuse, can I install them from the CD? how??

hmmmn, I think you may have a different issue. I have a T60 here, same ethernet controller, and it worked straight off the dvd. No need to download any drivers or compile anything.

I downloaded below 2 files from Intel Wired Ethernet | Get Intel Wired Ethernet at SourceForge.net

Don’t do this. 11.2 has those two drivers in the kernel source. Have a look at /usr/src/linux/drivers/net/

Your system should automatically pick the right one (I guess it’s the e1000e). Verify with ‘lsmod’. Search the forum for numerous posts asking how to get the network working for 11.2.

ok, thanks for your help.
I already gave up the 82573L Gigabit Ethernet Controller.
I bought a USB net card with ADM8515 chip, and it works well.
