T400/Sound only with headset

Hi,

My T400 running 11.1 has absolutely no problems with sound - as long as I have my headset connected. I have checked what I found in this forum, upgraded my alsa-installation (seealsa-info-output). No idea how to proceed further. Any assistance appreciated.

T400? Is that a Lenovo ?

Typically it is easier to get sound out of headphones than it is out of speakers.

I note the model option “auto” … did you insert that manually? If so, did you try it without that option ?

What is the output of:cat /etc/modprobe.d/sound

Instead of “auto” you could try one of the model options from the below Conexant lists … ie laptop, or laptop-hp, or hp … etc …

	Conexant 5045
laptop-hpsense Laptop with HP sense (old model laptop)
laptop-micsense Laptop with Mic sense (old model fujitsu)
laptop-hpmicsense Laptop with HP and Mic senses
	  benq Benq R55E
test for testing/debugging purpose, almost all controls
can be adjusted. Appearing only when compiled with
			$CONFIG_SND_DEBUG=y

	Conexant 5047
	  laptop	Basic Laptop config
laptop-hp	Laptop config for some HP models (subdevice 30A5)
laptop-eapd	Laptop config with EAPD support
test for testing/debugging purpose, almost all controls
can be adjusted. Appearing only when compiled with
			$CONFIG_SND_DEBUG=y

	Conexant 5051
	  laptop	Basic Laptop config (default)
	  hp HP Spartan laptop

Note you need restart alsa sound driver after each model edit before the sound test attempt.

Could you also provide the output of
rpm -qa | grep alsa
rpm -qa | grep pulse
rpm -q libasound2
uname -a
