systemd --user

What’s this “systemd --user” doing? It seems to be new for 13.1

I don’t know what it is doing. But, I do notice that it continues to run after I logout. And that is probably why my ecryptfs Private directory is not being automatically umounted. I’m guessing that it causes a similar problem for loop mounted encrypted home directories.

I consider this a bad idea. If you want an encrypted home directory or encrypted directory to be made visible when you login, then it should lose that visibility on logout.

Perhaps this is a bug that needs to be reported. I’ll appreciate any feedback from others.

This has already been reported:

And apparently this is by design. :\

Thanks. I’ll add a comment to that bug report.

Probably the same systemd user that is running when I see these intermittently slow shutdowns occurring just after the green weed fades, and one is left staring at a blackish blank screen.
