System-wide low volume

Hi everybody,
recently (about one/two months) I’ve been experiencing system-wide low volume levels.
I have somehow fixed the problem by enabling the volume to go over 100, but I’m wondering if this change is normal or if I did something wrong that caused it.

Thank you in advance
Cris

There are multiple places the volume can be set - can you specify what desktop environment you’re using, and which volume controls you are using to adjust the volume?

Hi @hendersj , thank you for your reply.
My DE is KDE, and I am using the standard KDE volume controls.

Thanks for that info - as a GNOME user, I’m not as familiar with the KDE desktop, so I’ll leave it for someone with direct KDE experience to provide more information.

You want to check System Settings > Audio.

Thank you Karl.
That’s the first thing I did, and that’s where I found the “Raise maximum volume” setting.
However I do not find any other setting that applies, there. Every volume slider is already at 100%, and yet the volume is low.
The only thing that may have changed, as I do not remember what was the setting before, is the audio profile. It is set to “Pro Audio” now.
Do you have any more suggestions?

I think I found the culprit: changing the profile from “Pro Audio” to “Analog Stereo Duplex” raised the output volume to the usual levels.

Thank you for your input!

Cris
