I was having trouble with Virt Manager. I had selected the patterns option to install the kvm tech when I setup this system (at install).
I got tired of messing with it. The option to enable KVM in YaST was greyed out. But the checkboxes were not checked.
I went to yast software and uninstalled everything in the “pattern” option for KVM. Then reinstalled it all using the Yast system dialog option (no the software management section).
A Pattern is a list of packages that are advised for a specific functionality. That means that there can be packages there that are also in other Patterns, or maybe needed without any Patterns being installed. Thus de-installing all that is listed in a Pattern can easily lead to de-installing things you need.
There is an option in the software manager for the pattern “KVM server” to install the microos related stuff. But it wasn’t selected or shown to be installed.
