System restarting or freezing

Recently my laptop started restarting after few minutes of doing nothing. Instead of going to hybernate or whatever it does usually, it just restarts. Sometimes the capslock light of my laptop starts blinking and I have to do a hard turnoff.
What can this be, what can cause it and how to fix it? Here is the journalctl res_logs2.txt - Google Drive
I cannot understand the journal file, someone needs to translate it to me. is it a software issue or hardware?

Thanks

The caps lock blinking is the Hardware code of what has failed.

Use the model of your computer and the blink info to google what is failing.

On Dell laptops it is like 3 blinks and then 2 blinks would be the code.

This may help

it’s a bit hard to tell. I will keep my eye on it. I have 4 boot options, gecko linux, gecko safe (or secure) boot (this one loads with half the RAM, 8 from 16), opensuse and opensuse safe boot. I think I messed up something. but I will keep my eyes on the behavior. as for now I have no idea what to do

one question if I may. is the “fast boot” option useful for linux OS’s or is it just for windows? because I turned it off

this behavior seems to occur only when on battery. This didn’t happen when my laptop was plugged in.

BIOS fastboot disables some hardware checking that otherwise would occur during POST. Given your problem, it’s conceivable disabling it could help, but don’t bet on it.

As a minimum, I would try reseating the RAM.

I did some little testing. It appears that this happens only when on battery, and when i lock the screen or when it just does those screen off battery saving things (from power settings). When i close the lid, which makes the laptop go in suspend mode, everything works fine.

And how can I reset the RAM? And what effect does it have?

The concern is, in essence, loose internal components. However, from what you’ve described vis a vis this only happening when running from the battery but not AC, that makes me wonder if there isn’t a problem with the power profile settings somewhere. I’ll leave someone else who is much more familiar with those things than me to suggest any potential corrective action.

I am concerned that the RAM is in the death bed or something. but this started to happen only recently, after I did an update

Failures always happen after something. After something happens is when something gets noticed. Try reseating the RAM, and running a memory tester, such as memtest86, for several hours minimum.

Hi. sorry for replying days later. I was taking some days off.
How do I do all those things you mentioned, memory testing, reseting the RAM?

https://software.opensuse.org/package/memtest86+
Manual: https://www.memtest.org/

Two entirely different tools designed for the same job. I only use 86 on UEFI systems. 86+ was recently updated from v5 to v6 after many years of inactivity.
