Greetings!!!

Never log into a GUI as root, this can cause all sorts of damage.

Looks like you are missing a package. As per the error message. Can you go into Yast-software management and install said package???

No, that’s the package (one of them) that the update is trying to solve, and fails.

yast “online updater”, rather.

Cheers / Saludos,

(from 11.2 x86_64 “Emerald” GM (Elessar))

Hellou, yast online updater is saying:

Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: db3 error(-30987) from dbcursor->c_get: DB_PAGE_NOTFOUND: Requested page not found
error: error(-30987) getting “” records from Requireversion index

Maybe try

rpm -rebuliddb

Ok, i get this:

stipi69@linux-3s8f:~> rpm -rebuliddb
rpm: arguments to --root (-r) must begin with a /

rpm gives this options:

linux-3s8f:/home/stipi69 # rpm

Opps my typo

-rebuliddb should be --rebuilddb

stipi69@linux-3s8f:~> --rebuilddb
If ‘–rebuilddb’ is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package that contains it, like this:
cnf --rebuilddb
stipi69@linux-3s8f:~> cnf --rebuilddb
–rebuilddb: command not found

thank you, but it doesnt work. Apreciateit, if you have anoher tip, will gladly accept it.

What gogalthorp means was

rpm --rebuilddb

apologies and thanks to gogalthorp, and thank you gropiuskalle for your hint… works like a charm

Thank you, I had the same problem, just searched the forum and found this, tied the rpm --rebuilddb and it worked perfectly. Brilliant. Had been quite worried about the stability of the install before that.

Best Regards

Dave Smith

I have the same problem and was delighted to find this solution but on trying it I get the following error message:

error: can't create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/__db.000

which alas means nothing to me. I would welcome any help

I had the same error, and after trying the rpm --rebuilddb I still get the same error… “installation aborted by user”

I tried to install the affected packages with YaST, but I get the following error:

Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/share/locale/cs/LC_MESSAGES/cracklib.mo: cpio: rename failed - Input/output error
error: cracklib-2.8.18-14.14.1.x86_64: install failed
error: cracklib-2.8.18-14.1.6.x86_64: erase skipped

I don’t like see I/O errors… they make me uneasy  I’m running on an ASUS K53E with an SSD and rather like the speed I get out of it… I don’t want to go back to the HDD but I guess I will if I have to.
