Hi All
I’ve got a fresh install of 11.3 on a x64 machine. I’ve managed to work through most of the initial hiccups and get a smooth system.
However I’ve noticed that the ‘System Logs’ option in YAST is missing. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there some supplimental package that I should install?
If it was removed from 11.3, is there an easy way to find and read these logs?
Thank you.

Nope. AFAIK YaST does not have a syslog management module.

Yep, they’re all in /var/log/. Use your favourite pager (more, less).

Hi pjessen
Thank you for the response. I KNOW it was there in 11.2 as I still have that installed on my laptop.
Oh well. I guess they removed it along with Sax2 for this release…

Okay, I have never noticed it. Ah, I found it in 11.1 - under
Miscellaneous. FYI, it is still there in 11.3

Thanks for the info pjessen.
It appears I may have a missing module in yast. Something may not have been installed properly during my recent install.
Would you be so kind as to give me a list of your installed yast modules? This can be done by issuing the following command in a terminal.
rpm -qa grep yast2-* > yastlist.txt
this will generate the text file “yastlist.txt” which can be copied into the forum. Ill be able to compare the two lists and find what’s missing.
Thank you in advance
Cromulent.

Thank you pjessen.
Your list has enabled me to determine that I’m missing 2 installed modules; ‘yast2-x11’ and ‘yast2-profile-manager’.
I’m unable to find them at all in the repos… Ill have to do some further digging.
Thanks again for your help…

I have a feeling they’re not in 11.3 any more. I upgraded from 11.2RC1,
that might be where they are. I also have a 11.3 system that started
out as 11.3RC1 - it doesn’t have the yast syslog viewer either, so you
probably won’t find it.
