system freeze on libreoffice

Hi Guys,
i have 2 systems running tumbleweed. The main one on a MacBook pro late 2012. I use libreoffice a lot here and no problems at all (x64). The second system is in a custom tower PC with SSD, lots of ram, 32bit system.
the apple box has an AMD graphic card, the custom one NVIDIA. Both are running on libre graphic drivers included with the distribution.

Any guesses why the second system could randomly freeze when running libreoffice? When it happens i can see that the mouse still moves around, but apparently the kernel is getting in soem kind of panic as i could not even login with ssh on the box when frozen.

Any idea is much appreciated, thanks!

which version of libreoffice is in use?

was the old version deleted before installing the current one?

what is the source of the installed libreoffice?

observations

no problems found with libreoffice4.3-4.3.5.2-2

with libreoffice4.4-4.4.0.3-3, its a bit unstable
in calc when coloring cell backgrounds,
when applied from the icon pull down menu,
ok when applied via right mouse click
