System cleanup.

Is it possible to clean up old kernel files as well as files that are not needed by the system anymore? Maybe that´s possible with a typed command somehow?

Try Bleachbit. Not sure whether it clean the kernel but it does clean those dump in system. :slight_smile:

Now if you could please tell me which one is actually better to use on OpenSuse systems I may raise your reputation too. I don’t have time to try everything but I certainly would like the program to do a very good job and have a good look. heheh…

Speaking for myself, I usually don’t worry about extra packages as a little more disk space used is not an issue for me. When I upgrade to the next release with a clean install, I get to choose what to install to get back what I use from day to day. This also gets rid of packages that nothing depends on, e.g. user apps, that I don’t use any more.

My philosophy is maintenance is good, but it’s overhead which takes time away from real work, you know, things like answering email, listening to music, surfing the Web. :wink: So if the cleanup is only cosmetic I don’t regard it as essential.

Of course if your “work” is to learn Linux, by all means have fun cleaning up.
