I just got an LG-C195N <puts a bag over his head> and want to be able to sync it, but it’s not clear what the modern applications are for that sort of thing. I got a lot of millage out of jpilot and I’d like the power to do the same sort of thing now that I’ve moved onto a smartphone wannabe, and would rather not be forced to use whatever LG has to offer for Windoze.
I’m running openSUSE 12.2 64-bit.
This (not so) smartphone runs a proprietary LG operating system so the only luck you’re going to have with it is using whatever bundled software LG provide.
That luck doesn’t seem to be holding out. I just spend a lot of time screwing around w/what LG bundles on 2 different Winblows systems and still can’t connect. Oh well. At least I can connect my phone in “mass storage” mode and get my ringtones on it.
Someone once told me that LG means “Load of Garbage”. I think my carrier was just trying to get rid of it.
LG make some good android phones - you just got one of their budget phones aimed at the lower end of the market is all.
If you’re exploring “off the beaten path” then you need to describe exactly what you’re looking for.
In the world of sync, you typically have
Files (specific file locations typically)
email
browser bookmarks
You also need to describe
The phone OS, possibly also the specific applications/data you want to sync
The PC OS (possibly multiple)
Whether you already have any kind of USB connection/sync provided by the manufacturer
Typically, if you have one of those cheaper phones running a proprietary OS and applications your options will be limited (but might exist). Sync solutions will typically be OTA and not through USB.
If you are running Android, then depending on various, your options will be greater.
