synaptic driver update fudged things up a bit

I added Xorg repo to my 11.1. After updating all packages (including synaptic) now touching my touchpad with two fingers does a “right click” when it used to do a “middle” click (to close firefox tabs, or open links in new tabs, etc). What happened? I looked at my xorg.conf, and it had not been modified. Why the sudden change? How can I revert to the old functionality. It is really difficult to touch the pad with 3 fingers (which is now the new middle click).

I presume this is the package: xorg-x11-driver-input 7.4-41.1

So remove the repo and roll back

Is there no way to force two-finger-tap to be middle button click? and three-finger-tap to be right-click?

What I’d like to know is what is the Xorg repo providing that is worth it.

NOt sure. I was hoping it would have newer intel drivers to fix the nasty lines and colours rectangles I’m getting on my screen from time to time.

When exactly do you get these screen effectslol!

What is your intel chip?

I reported a bug some time ago. I disagree with the ‘resolved’ status. Sometimes I feel discouraged reporting bugs. It seems that the bugs are too aesthetic, or not annoying enough to be looked into. If I were a programmer, there probably would be more ways to help, but alas I am not. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=450817

Can you post the relevant section from your xorg.conf file here? Post the section for “InputDevice” corresponding to the “synaptics” driver.

I get weired graphics at login, similar to what you describe and there are similar issues for folks with nVidia. I have read a thread that supposedly solved the issue by changing the branding package/s. I never bothered with it myself as it’s no big issue for me. My graphics are actually brilliant from default install and I have no desire to bork it up.
