so, i moved into linux a few days ago, got my wireless working thanks to the tutorial, and now i realized i cannot connect to the other computers in my home network (win/mac/ and a linux file server) wirelessly.
i decided to turn on the plug again just to transfer files/backup/etc. but my wired internet stopped working, the connection is seen by networkmanager as never connected, eventough it was connected before(during instalation and patching), ‘ifconfig’ and ‘network restart’ didin’t help, it serched for a ip but no succes.
i restarted my machine with the wire plugged and it started working… transfered some files and unplugged, used wireless a few hours and needed to replace the changed files on my other pc. i plug in the internet wire and the same happens, no internet… this is bothering me, there has to be a way.
the problem here is i cannot switch from wireless into wired without rebooting, or at least i don’t know how-to…
is there any tutorial to solve this or a how-to manually set-up a wired connection with networkmanager? i don’t think i’ve seen one in this forum, it would be appreciated. the wireless one really helped me.
also, i’d like to know if there is a way to connect to a network wirelessly, i use mainly nfs, samba, vnc and rdc
a sticky topic would be welcome.
