Hi all;
I am preparing myself to Linux+ exam.
In the book I read that when I am in the GUI mode, pressing CTRL ALT F2, for example,switches the GUI to the text-based shell prompt, but when I did this, nothing happened?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

works here, press CTRL ALT simultaniously (and hold them) and then F2 (you can use F1 through F6 - F7 returns you back to X/GUI)
Thanks for your reply. I tested again without success. I have installed SUSE on VMware. Does this problem relate to VMware?
Thanks
Mmm err what does ctrl alt do in vmware? Re-map or read the pages…
C+A in VMware is bound to ‘Release Focused Mouse’ and thus you would not be able to use it similarly in it, it overrides the OS defaults.
Thanks
