Swap doesn't work

Dear all,

I had configured swap when I first install opensuse on a USB disk on my laptop. Not sure when maybe after upgrades ( now 13.2 ) , swap doesn’t work anymore . I have it in my /etc/fstab:

cat /etc/fstab

/dev/disk/by-id/usb-TOSHIBA_External_USB_3.0_20120622050904-0:0-part1 swap swap nofail 0 0
/dev/disk/by-id/usb-TOSHIBA_External_USB_3.0_20120622050904-0:0-part3 / ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 1

systemctl -a | grep -i swap

dev-disk-by\x2did-usb\x2dTOSHIBA_External_USB_3.0_20120622050904\x2d0:0\x2dpart1.swap loaded inactive dead /dev/disk/by-id/usb-TOSHIBA_External_USB_3.0_20120622050904-0:0-part1
swap.target loaded inactive dead Swap

systemctl start swap.target

A dependency job for swap.target failed. See ‘journalctl -xn’ for details.

Your post is a bit difficult to read because of the lack of CODE tags.

But you say that Swap “does not work”. I searched (with the browser’s search) to find the word “swapon”. It failed. Did you test how swap is functioning with

swapon -s

have you tried deleting the swap partition via YaST partitioner,
rebooting, then re-makeing the swap partition?

btw fstab on this pc is
/dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD5000AAKS-00A7B2_WD-WCASY5960444-part1 swap swap defaults 0 0
