by the way since i use suse my laptop’s fan is noisy, what’s the problem?

Hi,
Take a look at Suspend to RAM - openSUSE, it will help a lot.
You also will have to know what is your graphics card.
Once you know what is the better options of s2ram that work for
your laptop, just edit the pmutils options.
Good look.
Bye.
hi
i tried it but i can’t solve my problem.what should a newbie as i do? i like to use suse but if i switch to ubuntu or slackware , is there these problems?
Your fan problem is being discussed here: noisy fan - openSUSE Forums.
You are trying to suspend to disk or to RAM?
It’s possible that the KDE4 plasmoids are buggy, you should try to suspend from the Menu > Leave.
i tried both suspend to RAM and suspend to disk.both of them by closing laptop lid don’t work and when i choose suspend or hibernate (Computer–>Shutdown–>Suspend (or Hibernate) in gnome) system go sleep but by pressing any key on keyboard back but screen remain black
I could get my laptop suspending to RAM and disk in openSUSE 11.0,
but I cannot have suspend working in 11.1. But my problem is related
to my graphics card driver that is really a messy!
So, let us know what is your graphics card. As root execute
lspci | grep VGA
and post the result here.
If your graphics card is Intel, I have to say that you will not get
suspend working with the current available driver in openSUSE 11.1
packages. And if get it working, you will have to say how you did
this to me, because my graphics card is Intel too (unfortunately). :\
nVidia Corporation GeForce 8400M GS
This is good! I work in a computer with nVidia card and I have suspend
working fine. There is still information needed. So, could you tell us if
you are using driver from nVidia repository? Is your system up to date?
Maybe give Kubuntu 9.04 a try.
My HP dv6645 laptop has sadly never woken from suspend-to-RAM under any version of openSUSE, but surprisingly it functions perfectly under the latest Kubuntu.
I think it’s a kernel compile option, but I’m not clever enough to figure out which one :(.
I compiled my own 2.6.29.3 kernel, using the config from my old kernel, and suspend now works.
Although my b43 wireless doesn’t wake up properly, no big deal as I can simply restart it.
If anyone wants more info on how I did it, please ask
