Suspend to ram (s2ram) on HP DC7800

Hi,

Could anybody help to get s2ram working on my HP DC7800 please?

Details:

OS: openSUSE-12.2-rc2

Hardware:

# s2ram -i
This machine can be identified by:
    sys_vendor   = "Hewlett-Packard"
    sys_product = "HP Compaq dc7800p Small Form Factor"
    sys_version  = " "
    bios_version = "786F1 v01.28"

Result when trying anything on SDB:Suspend to RAM - openSUSE :
When waking up, DVD and HD come back again (they make some noise), but screen
stays black and nothing else works, the system hangs.

TIA for any help!

hi Peter…thanks for testing the next release!!

hope you get it sorted out, but this is the wrong forum to try to
in…as 12.2 is still pre-release software you need to be in the testing
forum at http://tinyurl.com/2du7r4s

there you will find others searching for bugs in the release candidate,
and logging new bug reports as needed (not really the point to test to
find a work around on one machine (yours), but rather to get the code
ready for release…

if you have discovered a bug, then it needs reporting (after a little
discussion with your other testers to see if maybe you have a bug or a
setup issue)…

oh! i’ve not looked (you should) but, your bug may already be logged,
have a look (any login you encounter should accept the same ID/Pass you
use here):

https://bugzilla.novell.com/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=&classification=openSUSE&product=openSUSE+12.2&long_desc_type=substring&long_desc=&bug_file_loc_type=allwordssubstr&bug_file_loc=&status_whiteboard_type=allwordssubstr&status_whiteboard=&keywords_type=anywords&keywords=&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=NEEDINFO&bug_status=REOPENED&emailassigned_to1=1&emailtype1=substring&email1=&emailassigned_to2=1&emailreporter2=1&emailqa_contact2=1&emailcc2=1&emailtype2=substring&email2=&bugidtype=include&bug_id=&votes=&chfieldfrom=&chfieldto=Now&chfieldvalue=&cmdtype=doit&order=Reuse+same+sort+as+last+time&field0-0-0=noop&type0-0-0=noop&value0-0-0=

well, i looked a little bit, and found:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=772625
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=775132
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=775997

those may or may not relate to your problem…suggest you look through
them (and the other bugs available in the long link) and if you have the
same bug it is probably good to add info about your system…

again, thanks for testing.

The bug is not the same. I’m sure, that it’s more a kernel issue, rather than an opensuse one.
I’ve tested OS-10.0, 11.4, 12.1 and 12.2-rc2 (always the rescue system from DVD): only 10.0 works.

If nobody else has this hardware and/or problem, then I’m probably alone to find a solution. I can imagine using git-bisect with a script, that builds a minimal system (just kernel and bash), in order to find the commit with the regression. So any help for writing (or getting) such a script would be welcome.

I’ll try to get some help on Gmane Loom too…
