I have just found that susestudio licence is closed source itself.
Susestudio is one of the best web-based program for Linux and i really want to see it full gpl2+ in free software.
I am sure that many open source lovers will think same with me.
Actually we want to see all Novell projects with great German engineering as open source.
We love Opensuse and Novell.
Regards…

I’m sure you’re not alone in feeling this way. You might submit some
feedback through the studio site to see that it’s heard by the right
people.

I’ve gotta say, the studio is one place where Web 2.0 really shines.
I am sure that many open source lovers will think same with me.

I agree, but given what Novell must have invested in this, I’m sure they want to draw as many new customers to their Linux line as they can before releasing the information to competitors. I suspect it will eventually be GPLed.
i opened this thread into SUSE Studio Forum – SUSE Studio and and mail list of them.
seems nobody answered
many linux lovers see novell as evil and partner of microsoft. it is shame
but personally i trust novell
What for? It’s a competitive advantage over their ‘competitors’ (establishing that a competitor is anything product or service that replaces totally or partially your product).
It’s good as it is, and as long as it remains closed it provides a good platform to increase openSUSE user base and support it’s stable development.
I hope it only goes ''open" when it’s completely burned out and obsolete, until then I expect this fine piece of engineering to be pumping new synergies into openSUSE community and openSUSE Linux.
i think there shouldnt be any competition between linux(open source) vendors.
linux vendors must work together to grow up faster and make more money
this possibility is higher with open source projects.
working technic of open source will improve performance, stability, appereance of susestudio cuz it is one of the best web-based program out there.
the competition must be between all linux vendors and the others(apple, windows, etc.)
Makes sense in a FOSS dream world, not in the real world. Financing doesn’t come from fancy ideals, it comes from investors, and investors want revenue.
Look, SUSE Studio is perfect to expand openSUSE and raise it’s notoriety, I find it to be a very good strategical positioning tool. Why would you share it?
By the way, other distro’s might not have SUSE Studio, does that stop them for having distro’s based on them? Does that stops them from having a wide portfolio of SPINs?
I like to see distro’s struggling amongst themselfs, that’s how innovation pops up and how they position themselfs. If you look carefully all distributions have different positioning… why would they use strategies if they were really fighting for the same? Because it’s fancy? I don’t believe so…

You are right.
