suse upgrade

I am running ver 11.1, when a new verion is released, will it be auto updated, or will we have to reload a newer version, also, how long will 11.1 be updated?

No, there will never be a automated full upgrade.

Yes, you’ll need the cd/dvd of the new version to perform a upgrade.
Maybe this can also be done by configuring new repositories but i’m not sure
about that.
I’ve read somewhere there are plans to upgrade with zypper like debian can
with apt.

Security updates will be provided for 2 years after the release of a
OpenSUSE distrobution.
Community updates may last longer.

I think the word is officially that distro updates work with ‘zypper dup’ from 11.1 onwards. Whether they unofficially, as in actually, work, remains to be seen.

Thanks. I am good for a couple of yrs.
