on buttery power updater won’t check for updates. it gives me message:
**Unable to check wether updates are available.**
The system is on battery. Please connect a power supply
once connected it works fine, but it should be checking for updates even being on batteries - right?
Not sure here but i suspect that it is a feature to save power when using batteries

very well could be… so be it… (actually it is pretty useful)
It’s a pretty common safety precaution that you’ll see on more OS in the future - it disallows updating in the case of battery failure which might render the operating system unable to boot or cause catastrophic file corruption.
Exactly, its a feature to prevent people kicking off long updates that may run longer than your remaining battery life.
Sony PSP has the same feature when you updater your firmware.
