SuSE Thunderbird share files with Windows XP

Where in SuSE 11.1 would I find the configuration file indicating where the mail files are stored? (I found the mail files in SuSE but not what file tells the system to use them.)

I dual-boot XP and 11.1 and would like to set up Thunderbird in SuSE to use the XP folders that exist on my Windows C drive so as to not lose a tremendous amount of history. I need to maintain access via XP primarily because the wireless setup only works under XP and I don’t always have access to hardwired lan. Once wireless works flawlessly, I can better switch.

I did this once before when I was upgrading on the same PC from W2K to XP and maintained both systems on that PC for some time. Would like to do it while attempting to move from XP to SuSE.

Edit>Account Settings>Local Folders

Change your local directory to that of XP thunderbird’s.

Never mind. Found that changes are done directly in Thunderbird by changing the directory for ‘server settings’ for each user ID and the ‘properties’ for Local Folders. My guess is I will have to re-establish the filters - but that’s a minor probloem.

Thanks,
Mike

Hmmm. Nice to know. Glad you figured it out

Not as easy as I thought. Changed each ID’s properties, restarted Thunderbird and …nothing works! Can’t display the data in any folder. Just get the activity balls spinning and waiting when I select anything at all. Doesn’t look good at the moment.

I suspect that this is a ‘permissions’ problem. Root may be the only one with access and I don’t have a clue how to change that.

SUCCESS! Searched the forums and got it to work by editing /etc/fstab changing the line for /windows/C

from “users,gid=users,fmask=133,dmask=022,locale=en_US.UTF-8 0 0”

to “locale=en_US.UTF-8 0 0”

It’s 2:30 in the morning here and I’ve about had it but am extremely pleased with the success.
