#SUSE irc chnnel, could not help me with Glade 3

Complaint about #suse IRC channel, OP “tacit”

I logged on to the IRC chat channel #suse to ask a question about how to build a Glade 3 GUI, and the OP “tacit” gave me a general answer that did not answer the question. I asked the question again, and tacit looked up on the internet where the manual was, and I told him that the answer is NOT in the manual. I asked tacit if he has used Glade 3? He banned me from the channel.

There is no reason to ban someone from #suse from trying to get their question answered. I asked tacit a simple YES or NO question, if he had used Glade 3. It was obvious to me that he had not used Glade 3. He should have just told me “NO” and that he could not answer the question. So, I tried to ask the question again.

I would have asked more specific questions, if I could find someone who had used Glade 3 before. Not someone who just looks up the answer on the internet, or who says to go read the manual. I have already done that.

I started to ask if someone had used Glade 3, and then I was told to just ask the question. I did not want someone who would just look up the answer on the internet. I wanted to talk to someone who had used Glade 3. That was my first question, which was rudely not answered.

I request that you not allow TACIT to be an operator anymore. I am trying to get some things done with Glade 3 and am only trying to get answers to my questions.

thank you.

As I stated in your other thread, we do not have anything to do with the
#SUSE channel. If you have a complaint, your best bet is 1 of 3 things.
Either contact another operator and state your case, bring it to the
opensuse-project mailing list or contact Zonker as he is the community
manager and is probably the best person to work through these issues. I
would hope that you have logs though as you might be asked for them.

These forums are not the proper channel for airing a personal complaint
against another community member. Please take this up with tacit
personally, or do as 69_rs_ss suggested in your Soapbox post.
