Allow user feedback and complaints about OP who abuse their authority. Review these complaints, and ban OP who are found to be abusing their authority.
Do NOT ban users for asking questions that contain no abusive or foul language. Users should be allowed to ask questions.
Do NOT allow people to become OP on the #SUSE channel if they ban users for asking questions. If an OP does not know the answer, and needs to look it up on the internet, then they should be honest and say that they do not know but found this on the internet.
Do NOT ban users before first kicking them off of the channel.
Do tell users that they will be kicked off the channel if they continue to break a rule, and tell them what rule they are breaking.
Do be polite to users who are trying to get their questions answered about Linux. This promotes Linux. Kicking users off for asking questions about Linux cripples the Linux community.
Do what you can to help and to answer questions.
Be honest. If you do not know, then say that you do not know.
Do allow users to ask if you have used applications in Linux so that they can ask specific questions. Do not just tell them to ask their question.
Support the Linux community by not kicking new users off of #suse, and by helping them to learn about Linux and about SUSE.

The forums actually don’t have anything to do with the irc channel and
its staff. I would honestly suggest that if you have any issues with irc
ops, bring to the attention of the opensuse-project mailing list or to
Zonker as he is the community manager and would probably be the best
person to work out your concerns with.

This should be done in all facets of the community and is a good
message/statement even for the forums.
People complain all the time - actions are taken if deemed fit, however you find that many times it’s either unfounded or the action was justified in the end.
We don’t ban people for asking questions - we ban them for breaking the channel rules.
People will be banned if they’re deemed to be unsuitable to be on the channel and disrupt the channel discussions.
I checked my logs regarding your kicking and you were clearly trying to aggravate tacit on purpose. I don’t see any issues with it as you were unwilling to read the information given to you and were aggressive towards other users and the op.
On that note the ban wasn’t permanent, it’s more of a cooling period, we have permabanned only very few selects individuals in the entire time. Even some of those have been allowed back after they’ve shown they’ve stopped trolling.
And most importantly - you need to realize that even ops are just people, we have our bad days and good days - sometimes people are a little quick on the trigger, especially if there’s a been a horde of people previously that have been pushing peoples patience.
