Suse Demands 11.4 CD While installing apps

I need help!

Whenever i’m trying to install apps via one click install or any other way, it later demands i insert the OpenSuse 11.4 CD into the drive, otherwise it won’t install. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thank you!

Start Yast - Repo Management, remove the entry for the CD/DVD. That’s it.

DD
openSUSE®, the “German Engineered Automobile” of operating systems!

OK, so somehow, somewhere, something went completely wrong. My computer went berserk, it started opening some windows by itself, some uninstalled programmes suddenly reappeared, everything went wrong!!

What is wrong? Why am i having so many problems with this system? I really like and would love to use it, but is it possible it just doesn’t “like” my hardware? I really don’t get it :frowning: Help please… Should i install it again or sth?

Is there a KDM switch in the mix?

I myself didn’t swich anything.

First i had problems installing Opensuse via Gnome live CD, after successfully installing it, it wouldn’t reboot. It would just freeze at the Fujitsu screen. I actually had to pull the plug out, because normal reset and turning it off and on manually wouldn’t work. Than i installed it via DVD 4,7 GB, and i didn’t have any difficulties with it in that manner, but than this problem i wrote about in my previous post occured.

Thank you all very much for your help.

That’s interesting. Are these random, or is there something in particular that’s popping up?

How/what did you remove? Packages are needed by other applications to run, and will be added as necessary.

i removed firefox, banshee and brasero, and installed chromium, rhythmbox and k3b, and somewhere in the mix, the previous three reappeared.

In particular, it was while installiing an app, and once again it demanded a CD, so i pushed “skip” and some windows just kept popping up, there was no way of turning it off. Anyways, reinstalled the system, so i’ll try to make it work one more time :frowning:

To stop being nagged for the CD, you’ll have to remove or disable it from your repositories. Show the output (wrapped in CODE tags) of

zypper lr -d

A short remark here: linux is not windows. The whole installing/uninstalling recipe is not needed. There’s loads of software installed on my systems and the systems I manage that have never been used. I just leave them where they are.

Opensuse-release-DVD ? Should i untick that?

Thank you!
