Suse 13.1 / KDE Skype

Hello there ,

I’m kinda new here , but trying …

Last night I updated my openSuse distribution from 12.3 to 13.1.4 .
So far so good , everything worked perfect except skype .
I checked and I found several posts about pulse audio , so I did as it says here https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Skype , step by step .

But nothing yet . Despite I see the “Welcome” window for skype , it then dissapears . I don’t know if it’s just me or someone else ,and I also don’t know how to fix it … Any suggestions about what might be wrong ?

Thanks in advance !

If your OS is 64 bits you need to install several 32 bit libraries because skype is 32 bit/

If you start it in a terminal window it will list what is missing/errors

Hi,

Actually I had the same problem. I followed the instructions in the link mentioned by you and the sound quality was very poor. Therefore I removed Skype and all the previously installed files (pulse audio etc.) and after that I reinstalled only Skype and nothing more. I went to Skype Options -> Audio Devices and tested some different settings. This worked out for me.

not sure if it is directly related to your problem but there are some issues with skype and pulse audio 4.0 (included with openSUSE 13.1)
