SuSE 11.x & Intel RAID server II

dear all,

I am trying to install open SuSE 11.x (x=0-2) on a PC with an S5000XVN motherboard and “Intel embedded RAID server technology II”. The RAID consists of two 250 GB SATA drives. Installation has failed so far, and from the error messages I assume that the driver for the RAID system is missing.
I tried to solve the problem by downloading and installing drivers from Intel, but there don’t seem to exist specific drivers for openSuSE OSs. All I can find are drivers for the SLES versions 9, 10 and 11. I tried them but they didn’t work.

Does anybody have an idea how to go about solving this problem?

Cheers,

pinback

I may be wrong, but, as far as I know, you can configure that RAID in your BIOS itself and Linux will see only the resulting drive.

exactly! pinback, check your bios and find a place to ‘enable’ RAID,
and Linux should magically ‘see’ it…(at least that worked here when
i removed an old IDE drive and added SATA)
