SuSE 11.1 shutdown hungs

Hi all,
since few days my SuSE 11.1 x64 installation does no longer properly shutdown. If I login at console, and do a ‘init 1’, and then a ‘init 0’ the machine switches off properly, but if I try to shutdown from X then it always hungs somehwere in the halt script (at least it seems so)…
Anyone an idea how I could further track down whats now failing?

try to su to root and then read the log file with: less /var/log/messages
to see anything unusual or erroring out.
Ctrl-G will get you to the end of the file faster.
