SUSE 11.1 KDE 3.5 screensaver config problem

Thanks for the advice, works for me too. But the command is the other way around, isn’t it?

> sudo ln -s System apps

Of course it is!
Luckily I typed it right in the terminal I guess

It works for me.
Thanks

Same with me after update from 11.0 to 11.1 Screensavers visible after creating this link.
A simple solution, but I keep wondering why such changes have been made without a notice.

Thanks for the info guys, I had my screensaver set from before and I went to change it, and they were gone.

This is pretty clearly a bug, has this been reported? I didn’t see a bug when I searched bugzilla. I understand that KDE 3.5 is no longer the priority, but I’ll use KDE4 when it runs well on my older hardware (even on my T61 Lenovo it’s less than snappy). 3.5 is nice and snappy on my older Dell here at work, even with the dual 1920x1200 screens.

I have the same issue. The symlink and/or copying files doesn’t populate the list for me in 64bit 11.1. I guess I’ll just have to get used to disappointment

I did not observe the problem on my i586 installation, shortly after install. I installed only KDE 3.5

But on my x86-64, yes I did. I first installed KDE 3.5 only and do not remember if the list was in. Later I added Gnome and KDE4, and then realized no list was there. So I suspect it is due to one of these:
-problem with x86-64 only
-problem once you install KDE4
-something else

Such bugs pertaining to KDE3 are likely to persist, as I heard openSUSE will discontinue support for KDE3 in a moment.

Also, I haven’t installed KDE4 on my x86_64 installation of kde 3.5.
