(suse 11.1) issues with suse: maven and wallpaper

hi!

I find suse very pretty, but I have some little issues with it.
2 problems:

one: I installed compiz, and it works well, but I can’t change the
wallpaper of suse: I select the new photo but when I click on APPLY …
nothing happens.
two: I installed maven in
/home/lolveley/Documents/bin/apache-maven-2.0.9 but when trying to
launch “mvn --version” from another directory I have always the same
problem:“access denied”, even typing “su” or “su -”.
Do you know where does it come from?

I partially resolved the problem: from the desktop I right click and
select “desktop configuration”, and, here, it run well.

but my issue with maven still remains.
