I finally got my IBM Thinkpad A22 laptop operational with suse 10.3. (just have to get wireless working!!). I downloaded the opensuse 11.0 iso file today on to my debian system and used Brasero disk burning program to create a dvd as an iso image. I put it in the laptop, verified that the 1st boot item is the cdrom/dvd and allowed it to continue booting. There is activity on the dvd reader and it takes a while before ‘grub stage 2’ shows up in the upper LH corner. It continues for about 45-60 second then I get the suse 10.3 boot up screen. I have verified that the dvd does boot up into suse 11.0 installation screen by booting the dvd in my windows desktop. Other than getting a commercially made dvd can anyone suggest how to upgrade my laptop?
If you really boot from the DVD it leaves the HD behind.
If the DVD is running correct it should give the option to install or boot from the HD.
So in my opinion there is something wrong with you’re media
May be you can the the LIVE CD it smaller to download , and beside a live cd it is also a install media
