Support for Realtek r8168 Ethernet chip (Gigabyte core i7)

I have a core i7 motherboard from Gigabyte,
and everytime the kernel is updated, the Ethernet breaks
since there is no support for the r8168 Ethernet chip.

It is a little confusing, since if you unplug power
and wait for a minute, and cold boot, the existing
driver r8169 will work, but after a reboot, the
Ethernet is gone. The controller might even not
be detected by the BIOS.
Only power cycling will get your Ethernet back.

Realtek has their drivers at:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Would be nice, if this driver was included in future distributions.
Since I still use OpenSuSE 11.1, it would be nice with a backport as well.

The module r8169 included with oS11.2 works for r8168 chip too. I am not sure if it was included in oS11.1 or not.

It is in kernel 2.6.27, which was used in 11.1.

You will find RPMs for r8168 in the OpenSuSE build Service at

http://software.opensuse.org/search

.
I used them in both 11.1 and 11.2 to fix (?) issues with Wake on Lan (WOL)
