-=WELCOME=- new poster…welcome to openSUSE and our forum…i predict
you are gonna like both!
NO! you are not a dipstick! you are (so far) smart enough to install and
even get some stuff to work by reading and following directions…so,
i have GREAT hope for you…
the ‘trick’ of supervisor/super user/administrator/root privileges is to
always log into Gnome, KDE or whatever you are using as a window
manager and then “become root” though one of the approved methods (use a
root powered application like YaST, or launch (say) a root powered file
manager, or or or…
lots and lots on that already written and hopefully understandable, read
around http://tinyurl.com/DD-on-Root and follow the trails therein…

ok, so the ‘trick’ of these forums is to catch the attention of someone
who knows something about how to solve your problem…do to that it is
best to post to the “correct” forum (which is not always clear which is
“correct” but in this case i vote for the wireless forum, here:
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/wireless/
BUT, before you post your problem have a good look at the three stickies
at the top of that forum page…they are filled with good ideas and
hints on how to get yourself to smile…
and, there is some good stuff in the documentation, like at:
http://doc.opensuse.org/products/opensuse/openSUSE/opensuse-reference/cha.wireless.wlan.html
now, you are not alone in this…have a look at what is available and
don’t give up when all the NEW STUFF begins to overwhelm…just ask, we
LOVE to help folks willing to try to help themselves…
i’d suggest your next post be to the wireless forum with something like
“Intel wireless 3945ABG won’t connect” and a brief of how new you are
and what you have tried which hasn’t worked, yet…OH! one of those
stickies has a good hint on the kind of stuff the wireless gurus will
need from you to fix you up—give it to them in your first post and you
will gather more willing to help.
