SuperBUG in OS11.1

I think there must be a superbug in OpenSUSE11.1
I run OS11.1 with KDE4.1 RC1

I was playing with Compiz-fusion and everything seems greate. Earlier i had problems that i couldnt read USB-memory stick, external harddriver and CD/DVD. I mount but its impossible to read from any media.
Then the solution was to add user to group disk, cdrom and floppy. I did this and it works.

Now suddenly all problems are back again!

I cant read from any CD/DVD or USB Memory stick. It get mounted and created in /media and shows up in Dolphin.
If i try to read CD in Dolphin i get error-msg:
“org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes included: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, te reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.”

If i eject CD or remove USB-stick, the folden in /media does not get deletet as it should. I have to delete these folder manual and the .hal-mtab files.

And Yast/zypper doesnt work at all if they need to access CD. Yast and Zypper just hung and i have to reboot PC to release the prosess-lock.

Again my computer is stuck in some filesys-problem. I use of course EXT3.
But now my useraccount is allready member of disk, cdrom and floppy so this is no longer a solution.

My ide is that Update manager updatet someting buggy that mess up the system.

Another problem that also happens is that if i access web-sites like forums.opensuse.org and try to login as user, i now get error that i dont accept coockies. So there is some blocking in the filesystem.

Is there some buggy Updates that has been released? What can i do to solve my problems?

PLEASE HELP!

I have exactly the same problems like you + some PulseAudio things.
I’ve also completed the workaround to get working the DVD burner but without any success.
I’m apologizing to my friends because I’m leaded them to 11.1. This was a buggy release - it happens. You can hack a lot of things on your box but It’ll never work like the other releases before (11.0, 10.x). The unstable PulseAudio, the burning problems are made around +10K users to this forum, because they don’t know what to “hack” these things. There isn’t any SUPERbug. You have the same problems like an ordinary user with an ordinary 11.1.
Keep hacking.

More info about the problem!

Now i really get concern about my installation!
No application manage to read or write to my home-directory; /home/username

If i use Dolphin, it read /home/username/Documents or Desktop, but it a try the root of homedir /home/username it hung!
All my web-browsers Firefox and Opera cant be used to login to web-accounts, becaust it claims my web-browser doesnt support Coockies.

If i open a terminal-vindow, then i can browse my homedir. Permission is set right.
Its something with KDE or GUI. GUI apps is blocked to read on my userdir.

This is some serious problems that must be fixed very soon. If all users of OS11/11.1 experience al this problems, then OpenSUSE is goeng to have a lot of problems to keep the users.

This is not good and we dont hear anything from the developers!

There is an update available via YOU now that fixes the issue with access to the dvd/cdrom drive.

You should remove user from group disk, cdrom and floppy after running this update. Run rchal restart as root to reset hal.

I don’t know if this will help you with your other problems or not.

No, it isn’t works for me - now my drive is completely disappeared.

Was one of the updates for hal? The version I have is 0.5.12-10.12.1. Did you restart hal?

hal-0.5.12-10.12.1
Yeah, I’ve restarted. What do you think - should I remove all fixes - workarounds what I did as described in Solved : K3b Problem with Normal User on openSUSE 11.1 | Spirit of Change?
